Parim Academy is Parim’s learning management system (LMS) for staff training. After completing training courses, matching qualifications will be added to user profiles automatically for compliant scheduling.
This help article will walk you through the steps of getting started with Parim Academy, building your first Pathway and assigning it to your staff.
1. Subscribe to the module
Before subscribing to Parim Academy, make sure you have set up your company name under Settings → General → Company → Company name. This step is required for Parim Academy to work.
Parim Academy is a separate paid module for Parim. Subscribe to Parim Academy in the subscriptions section in the upper right corner of your Parim environment.
On the subscriptions page, scroll down until you see Parim Academy and click Subscribe.
The Subscription page is only accessible to superadmins.
2. Add people from Parim to Parim Academy
Find Parim Academy from the top menu bar under People → Parim Academy. This is only visible to superadmins.
Click “Sync employees” to sync your Parim user database to Parim Academy. The current beta version only allows you to sync all people in your Parim environment.
You will not be billed for syncing employees to Parim Academy. You are billed only for the users who have been assigned pathways, courses or other learning materials.
After syncing employees:
Parim syncs all active employees who have an active approved status, an active contract and an added email into Parim Academy.
Users without an email, or inactive users, are skipped.
After a successful sync, the employees will be able to access Parim Academy from the Parim Staff portal
Location Supervisors, Department Supervisors & Managers can access Parim Academy from the Parim Admin portal top right corner
Important: Parim Academy has roles separate from the Parim team environment.

3. Create or upload your first training materials in Parim Academy
After syncing employees, open Parim Academy and upload existing training materials to the library or use the AI course builder. These materials will be used in the next step for creating pathways.
In the left-side menu column, click Content → Library.
Here you can create and upload all learning materials. After uploading training materials or building a course with AI, your materials should be visible in the Library. In our example, we have uploaded a course for security guards about Martyn’s Law.
This course will be the first part of our Pathway to provide our security guards with learning materials about Martyn’s Law.

For the second part of our example, we will build a quiz to test the knowledge gained from the course.
To create a quiz, click Content → Forms & Quizzes → Create Blank Form.
After creating the quiz, it will appear in the list of Forms & Quizzes. In our example, we have built a quiz called Martyn’s Law Awareness & Preparedness.
You can learn more from our Parim Academy: How to Build a Quiz help article.
4. Create pathways based on training materials
After creating a course and a quiz, we can create a pathway using these materials. Pathways will be assigned to employees. After employees complete a Pathway, the certificate acquired from that pathway will be automatically added to their profiles as a qualification in the Parim team environment.
To create a new pathway, select Content → Pathways from the left sidebar menu and click Create Pathway in the top right corner.
You are now on your Pathway page. You can name the Pathway and add a subtitle and description to provide an overview of it. In this example, we named our Pathway Martyn’s Law.
To add learning materials to the Pathway, click Add a step under Pathway Overview on the left.
You can now add the required learning materials and quizzes for employees to complete the pathway.
In our example, we have added two steps: a course consisting of learning materials and a quiz.
To set up the certificate that employees acquire after completing the pathway, navigate to Pathway settings in the top-right corner and select Create certificate.
Set the name for the certificate. Important: This name will be used on the qualification added to the employee profile in the Parim team environment after completing the pathway in Parim Academy. If you want the certificate to match a qualification already present in Parim, make sure that the certificate name matches the qualification name in Parim exactly.
You can also set up certificate expiration in months, which will create the qualification expiration date in the Parim team environment.
After creating the certificate, publish the pathway.
Published pathways can be assigned to employees. Click Assign pathway to people and teams on the top-right menu bar.
You can now assign the pathway to people and teams. In our example, we assigned it to the Security guard team.
You can learn how to create teams from our Parim Academy: Adding People to a Team help article
After assigning pathways, you can monitor the completion progress from the People menu.
5. Qualifications will be automatically synced to Parim Academy certificates
After an employee has successfully completed the pathway, the ‘completed’ status will appear on their profile in Parim Academy.
You can now see the qualification in the Parim team environment under People → Employees → People → Expertise → Qualifications.
6. Schedule people based on qualifications
In the Parim team environment, filter out people based on qualifications when assigning shifts. You can also enable and set up ‘Require qualification match’ for locations. When publishing available shifts, only people with matching qualifications will be able to apply.

Troubleshooting
Why can’t I see Parim Academy in my Parim team environment?
Parim Academy in the team environment is only visible to superadmins after the Parim Academy module is activated under subscriptions. Parim Academy is not available for the Starter plan or during the free trial.
Why can’t I open Parim Academy?
If the module was just enabled, setup may be async; wait a moment and retry. Make sure to double-check the subscription status on the Subscriptions page and ensure that you have your company name set up in General settings.
Why can't the staff see Parim Academy?
Your staff can see Parim Academy only in the Parim Staff portal. If none of the employees can see Parim Academy, double-check Parim Academy module subscription status and make sure that you have run Sync employees under People → Parim Academy. If some of the employees can’t see Parim Academy, make sure that they have an email and active status in Parim.
Why didn’t qualifications appear in Parim after a staff member completed a pathway in Parim Academy?
If the qualification didn’t appear, first double-check that the employee was synced to Parim Academy. Check that the pathway in Parim Academy that the employee completed has a certificate set up and that the employee has completed the pathway.
